First Annual Walk-a-thon: Live Earth Walk for Water 2010
Hayah International Academy became the host of the only Live Earth Run for Water event in Egypt making Cairo the 193rd city walking collectively to raise money and awareness on the dwindling water resources around the world.
The day-long event raised over 100,000 Egyptian Pounds which were then used throughout the following year to dig wells and connect water pipes to provide villages with potable water. The wells were dug in villages in Upper Egypt. Other villages in Alexandria were connected with water pipes giving them clean water resources. |

In association with the Ministry of Irrigation and Water Resources and the Egyptian Water Partnership representatives from Hayah were able to clean Abou El Menagga Canal, a 19 km long water stream in Qalyoubeya which now efficiently serves 50,000 acres of land and around 500,000 people. With the ministry contributing 20,000 Egyptian pounds with 45,000 Egyptian pounds left over from the 2010 event bringing that to a collective 65,000 Egyptian Pounds making the Abou El Menagga Canal cleanup in January 2012 possible.
